About

A journalist and media professional with more than two decades across print journalism, digital media, editorial leadership, podcasts and social initiatives.

I am Anil Pahwa, a journalist and media professional with more than two decades of experience across print journalism, digital media, news reporting, editorial leadership, podcasts and social initiatives.

My journey began at the ground level. I started as a News Reader with a local cable network, where I had my first experience of presenting news to an audience. I then moved into newspaper journalism as a Reporter with the local evening newspaper Encounter, where I worked for about a year.

My next milestone was Amar Ujala, where I spent two years and gained valuable experience in newspaper reporting and the working of a professional newsroom.

In 2000, I joined the Punjab Kesari Group, one of North India’s leading newspaper groups. I spent nearly eighteen years in the newspaper space, covering news, reporting, editorial responsibilities and the changing dynamics of journalism.

The transition to digital

By 2018 it was clear that the future of journalism was moving rapidly towards digital platforms. Having spent many years in traditional newspaper journalism, I decided to explore the digital space properly and understand the new ecosystem of online news.

I spent around two years focused on digital media, learning how online news works, how audiences behave, how content is created for the web and how people’s reading habits were changing. That period gave me a much deeper understanding of the transformation taking place in journalism.

I then joined the Punjab Kesari Group’s digital division as Punjab Head, Digital Media. Over the years my responsibilities have widened. I currently work as Deputy News Editor with the group, handling responsibilities across both the newspaper and digital media, with editorial responsibilities for Punjab as well as Jammu & Kashmir.

Beyond the news

For me, journalism is not limited to reporting what happens. It is also about understanding the people, the issues and the stories behind the news.

Alongside my editorial work, I host podcasts and conversations with political personalities and public figures, creating a platform for meaningful discussion and different perspectives. I also believe the media carries a responsibility towards society, so I actively support social causes and initiatives that can create a positive impact in the community.

My approach

The media landscape has changed dramatically since I began. From cable networks and newspapers to websites, social media, podcasts and digital-first journalism, I have had the opportunity to experience almost every major phase of this transformation.

Working in both traditional journalism and digital media has taught me that while platforms change, a journalist’s basic responsibility does not: to find the truth, ask the right questions, present facts responsibly and stay connected with people.

This website is an extension of that journey. Here I will share my work, articles, views, podcasts, interviews and the stories and initiatives that matter to me.

Welcome to my world of journalism.
